Since 1953 the Westminster Day of Dance has been a tradition showing off the talents of the best men’s morris dancers in the UK. This day of dance is a long celebrated tradition filled with exhibitions and tours. For anyone who is attending the festivities, this is a great time to help celebrate this tradition with another long held tradition of setting off sky lanterns. Sky lanterns are the ideal addition to any celebration and they are gaining in popularity as an inclusion in concerts, performances and festivals throughout the country.
Morris Men’s Touring Schedule
Throughout the day there will be dancing tours consisting of five groups that will perform throughout the city. Starting at 10:15 am and going through to 6:30 the dance groups can be seen at various locations including The Wellington, Westminster Cathedral Piazza, Trafalgar Square, Duke of York Steps and Chinatown. As the festivities wind down it is a great time to set off some sky lanterns in celebration and in thanks for the amazing dance performances from these very talented men. You can even personalize them with memories of the day, favourite dances during the day or well wishes for the safe travel of the dancers as they return to their homes after a long day. As you set the sky lanterns up to the sky they will create a stunning display to match the display of the talent that was seen throughout the day.
Sky Lanterns to Use to Commemorate the Dancers
There are many different types of sky lanterns you can use in celebration of any event. You can use traditional sky lanterns such as the ones found at http://www.nightskylanterns.co.uk/sky-lanterns/white-traditional-sky-lanterns/prod_8.html. These are the most well known of all the sky lanterns and are traditionally used during celebrations. You can even use the large sky lanterns or novelty pieces such as the smiley face lanterns. In order to personalize them or write messages on them you can use a sharpie marker.
Use the Festival Package for Added Convenience
For an even better experience, you can use the convenient festival package that would be ideal for this celebration. Found at http://www.nightskylanterns.co.uk/lantern-packs/festival-premium-pack/prod_23.html this package includes fifteen sky lanterns and five LED Tea Lights. The premium sky lanterns are included and contain multiple colours in yellow, red, white, orange and blue. Each one is individually wrapped to keep it safe. All you need to do is unwrap each of them when you are ready to light it. You then attach the fuel cell per the instructions. Light it and launch it. Releasing them into the air one at a time is the perfect way to watch the sky light up as each one takes to the sky.
Safe and Eco Friendly
Sky lanterns are biodegradable and flame resistant so they are safe for use. There are some safety precautions that should be followed to make sure they are used properly. Once the fuel cell goes out the sky lantern will drift to the ground. It will degrade as it is exposed to the elements so will not contribute to waste.
