In ancient times people would use flying lanterns as a means to send a prayer to the heavens and as a way to celebrate special occasions. Today, this tradition continues with sky lanterns being used across the country for several different celebrations. Weddings and birthdays are particularly popular events but sky lanterns can be seen at festivals, concerts, grand openings for businesses, sporting events and just about anywhere people gather to have some fun. Often a particular colour is used or the simple traditional sky lanterns. However, mix it up a bit for some added interest by using different sky lanterns. This will create a spectacular display in the night sky that you won’t want to miss.
How are Chinese Chinese Hanging Lanterns used?
Each sky lantern is individually wrapped so that it stores easily. You need to unwrap each one, attach the fuel cell per the instructions if it is not pre attached, light it and release it. It will float into the sky and create a warm glow that can be seen many kilometres. Many people choose one particular style and size of lanterns so it looks uniform. But, why not change the sizes of lanterns that are launched for some added interest? It can be a lot of fun and create the ultimate sky lantern experience. If you are videotaping the event, it can be particularly striking.
Types of Chinese lanterns available
The traditional sky lanterns are 108 x 40 x 60 cm in dimension. But you can add different sizes to these and create a fun look in the sky. Cylindrical Chinese lanterns are 108 x 40 cm and while similar in size have a different shape. The large sky lanterns, however, have bigger dimensions and can be used to accentuate the traditional ones. For even more dramatic impact, choose the giant sky lanterns that reach 205 cm tall. But, you do not have to stop there. You can even choose the mega cube lanterns. This is the ideal way to end an evening with a huge, 1.5 metre cube that floats in the night sky. Because of its size, it is better to have two people available to help launch it.
Novelty lanterns are great for themed parties and to add to traditional lanterns
In addition to various sized lanterns you can also get specialty sky lanterns. These Chinese Hanging Lanterns work similarly to traditional lanterns but they are shaped differently. For example, the smiley face sky lanterns found athttp://www.nightskylanterns.co.uk/novelty-sky-lanterns/smiley-face-sky-lanterns/prod_38.html are perfect for any occasion, especially informal events. Birthday parties are the perfect time to launch these flying lanterns or any time you want to see sky lanterns in the air just for fun. Football shaped sky lanterns such as the ones found athttp://www.nightskylanterns.co.uk/novelty-sky-lanterns/football-sky-lanterns/prod_26.html are ideal for sporting events and the heart shaped Chinese lanterns like the ones at http://www.nightskylanterns.co.uk/novelty-sky-lanterns/heart-shaped-sky-lanterns/prod_17.html are perfect for a romantic date night.
When launching sky lanterns for whatever reason, consider spicing it up a bit. Your celebration or gathering will be even more fun when you add different sizes to the mix.
