This month is fireworks safety month. Fireworks have been used for over two thousand years as a means of celebrating. They are set off in grand displays as a way to have fun and to honour many different occasions. Although fireworks are fun there are safety risks involved in using them. For Fireworks Safety Month, why not use the more popular alternative to fireworks, sky lanterns? Sky lanterns provide a similar style of display in the sky emitting a warm glow that can be seen for miles. However, the Chinese lanterns are easier and safer to use.
Firework injury statistics
Each year, according to the National Campaign for Firework Safety, approximately 1,000 people in the UK have injuries that are caused by the use of fireworks. Nearly a quarter of those were eye related injuries. The way to prevent an increase in these statistics is to reduce the amount of fireworks allowed for use by the general public. Instead, firework displays should be coordinated and managed by trained professionals. While fireworks are fun and pretty to watch, there are better alternative for family occasions and celebrations. Chinese lanterns are safe for use and can be used without any particular training involved.
Chinese Sky Lanterns – Alternatives to Fireworks
Chinese Sky lanterns come in all different shapes, sizes and colours. They will delight your guests and provide a spectacular display in the sky. You can choose from a variety of different models such as the white traditional Chinese lanterns, cylindrical lanterns, coloured lanterns, giant sky lanterns or themed Chinese lanterns in fun, novelty shapes. If you are having a get together or party, consider using one of the party packs such as the ones found athttp://www.nightskylanterns.co.uk/lantern-packs/party-packages/prod_20.html. You can purchase small, medium or large packages depending on the number of guests. They all include sky lanterns, glow sticks and ice fountains.
Want to impress guests? Use ice fountains instead of fireworks
If you want the explosion of light that is emitted from sparklers, a safer alternative is to use ice fountains such as the ones found at http://www.nightskylanterns.co.uk/lantern-accessories/ice-fountains-pack-of-4/prod_19.html. These are similar to fireworks but are safe for use and can even be used indoors. The shooting stars and sparkles last for approximately one minute. They are non toxic and can be used as a great alternative to fireworks. Sparklers were one of the types of fireworks listed as causing a significant percentage of the injuries caused by fireworks. So for Fireworks Safety Month, why not substitute the safer alternative, ice fountains?
Commemorate Fireworks Safety Month by becoming educated about the dangers present in using fireworks in the UK by those who are not trained professionals. But, you do not have to give up the fun of fireworks. You simply have to use an alternate form of entertainment that is much safer but provides a lovely display in the night sly. Chinese sky lanterns will provide just such a display. They are non toxic, non flammable and safer for use than fireworks.
