The Royal Ascot is possibly the poshest and well known horse race in all of England. Thanks to a little movie in the 1950’s and the famous line about a certain horse named Dover, the whole world knows about the Ascot. Today, there are a mere 3000 seats available for the general population and the dress code for the Grandstand is only slightly relaxed compared to what was popularized in My Fair Lady. For those who choose not to dress up or simply did not get tickets this year, watching the Royal Ascot at home and hoping those bets win with sky lanterns is as fun and doesn’t require a big hat to gain entry.
