While the PGA is playing across the pond in Michigan today, know that the pro golfers are enjoying possibly the most UK centric golfing experience outside of the UK. This legendary course has hosted many professional tournaments and for those who love golf here in the UK, the course looks like it could be only a few miles away and hundreds of years old, rather than half a world away and only a twelve year old course. Even the sheep that are on the course are of the Scottish Blackface variety. For golf aficionados here, the PGA Championship is a world away but because of the course it makes it feel like it is closer than it is. For those with a favourite, or who simply want to have the tournament start on time without the delays like today’s fog related delay, sky lanterns are an excellent choice.

The traditional use of floating lanterns dates back to ancient China where these lanterns were used to send prayers to the heavens. These prayers, like prayers of today, could be for anything, from fortune to feast to famine on one’s enemies. For these people, they believed the Chinese Hanging Lanterns were vessels of prayer that would be answered by their ancestors living out the afterlife. Today, we may not believe in the prayer portion actually being transported up to our ancestors but many people still launch Chinese lanterns into the sky as a way to support someone or to ask the cosmos for assistance with something.

In the case of today’s PGA tournament, many people from around the world already collectively hope for a better start for the remainder of the tournament. The fog rolled in around dawn and set the entire first day of the tournament back by over three hours. This will make those scheduled later in the day feel a little pressed for day light and for those who wanted to watch their favourite players tee off here in the UK, they may be doing so well into the morning hours. While NightSkyLanterns.co.uk cannot guarantee that a launch this evening of sky lanterns in the hopes of helping the tournament start on time tomorrow will work, it certainly cannot hurt and on top of that, it may be just the thing needed to relax and sleep until the start of the 2nd day of the tournament.

If you are a Tiger Woods fan, some sky lanterns certainly won’t hurt his game either, with him playing some of the worst golf he has ever played in his entire career. Whether it is our traditional Chinese Hanging Lanterns you opt to send up or our cylindrical floating lanterns, there are plenty of options at NightSkyLanterns.co.uk. We even sell sharpie markers so you can write your support for your favourite player on the lantern itself. While the lanterns won’t make it to the United States, you can know that your positive energy has the potential to do so.
