Transplant recipients from all over the UK are gathering today at Bath for the 2010 British Transplant Games. This yearly event celebrates the accomplishment of medicine in providing more and more successful organ transplants as well as the donors who help save lives with their donations. With the opening ceremony going on today, you can be sure that the week of games is going to be excellent, showing that transplant recipients are true competitors. We here at NightSkyLanterns.co.uk salute the men and woman who are participating in this year’s games.
Celebrate the Transplant Games with a Showing of Chinese Hanging Lanterns
If you are in Bath and attending the games, take some sky lanterns with you to celebrate the games and to encourage the competitors to give it their all in the days to come. An evening launch of floating lanterns into the night sky can be done easily and inexpensively and is a beautiful way to set off the games, and messages of encouragement can be written directly on the paper lantern, allowing those participating to see your work and messages as the Chinese Hanging Lanterns float by. With sky lanterns, there is all of the beauty of fireworks and more without the loud noise that accompanies a fireworks show as well as no nasty chemical odour hanging in the air.
Transplant Events
During the 2010 Transplant Games there are many different events; some of which you would expect from a Games even and some that are not often seen. Some of those that one would expect include Table Tennis, Archery Squash, Tennis, Swimming and Track and Field events. However, there are some that one would not expect including Darts, Archery and Fishing. On top of this, many of the events are offered not only for adults but for children too. Many transplant recipients are children who live active and full lives. After these events, especially the dart tournament which is scheduled to end near midnight on Friday, a launch of sky lanterns would be an excellent way to say good job to those who participated. Alternately, a launch of floating lanterns at Royal Victoria Park during the Donor run would be a great way to say thank you to those who have contributed monetarily to this excellent cause.
Sky lanterns are based on the ancient Chinese lanterns, using similar construction materials but with modern twists including better fuelling technology and fire retardant paper products to produce a more reliable and safe experience. Their original use was for sending prayers into the heavens and their modern use includes this as well as simply a beautiful way to celebrate any event. NightSkyLanterns.co.uk’s commitment to the environment has led us to developing and now only selling wire-free floating lanterns, assuring customers that no matter where they launch their lanterns that the wildlife and livestock is safe wherever they happen to land. On top of this, floating lanterns are fully biodegradable and typically are completely degraded in a matter of weeks.
